Amazon
Amazon is committed to being a force for good in the communities where it operates. This year, TBBT has received more than 200 tonnes of food – roughly 555,000 meals worth - from Amazon sites across the country, from high quality meat products to milk to ready meals. Not to mention non-food donations of household goods, health and beauty items and even pet food.
TBBT has had a relationship with Amazon since 2019, but as the pandemic increased online ordering and people’s shopping habits changed, further Amazon sites were interested in repurposing their surplus edible stock bringing fresh opportunities to work together. Not only does this mean an increase in valuable food stock but also some brilliant volunteering from the local staff teams.
In November, we opened our first hub in Warrington, taking us across the Greater Manchester border into Cheshire for the first time. The Amazon fulfilment centre in Warrington has been there since the start. Every week a core team of Amazon staff arrive at our Warrington hub to help unload the van and pack bags working shoulder to shoulder with the local community team, welcoming members and serving families their food supplies.
Meanwhile, members of the team from the Amazon fulfilment centre in Bolton have been sending resources – edible and human! – to help keep the Trafford warehouse shipshape.
