Morrison Trust
Based in Darlington, Morrison Trust’s principle objective is to support people into work, running a range of projects tailored to their clients’ age, needs and experiences.
During 2021, staff from the Morrisons Trust team visited TBBT hubs to work with members, creating bespoke packages of employment support for individuals, developing skills and preparing people for work.
Morrison Trust’s, Caroline Evans first came to TBBT’s Firthmoor hub in the summer of 2021 and the team are now a regular fixture at hubs across the town. She says: “We appreciate the opportunity to be a part of such a good and worthwhile project. The TBBT team are very welcoming, and being at a hub is the perfect opportunity to chat with people face to face that we wouldn’t normally get to meet. We have a range of projects to offer and can help support with training and starting work expenses.”
Some of the projects run by Morrison Trust have also directly targeted for TBBT volunteers, adding value to their volunteering experience and opening up paid job opportunities as a result. Caroline explains: “We have delivered Food Hygiene and Health & Safety courses so far and are looking at First Aid courses too in 2022. We have also delivered personal development courses focusing on confidence building, managing change and developing communication skills.”
It’s a two-way flow of work between the two organisation. Morrison Trust have helped recruit volunteers for TBBT and are promoting TBBT to its clients whilst also offering members other activities to get involved in. Caroline continues: “We are currently delivering a Men’s Shed IT project and actively encourage some of the older guys to attend for their mental health.”
“It’s a really good example of how TBBT partners with local agencies and organisations to maximise what we can offer to our members. We know that our Darlington members have benefitted tremendously from Morrison Trust’s support with additional training and several have now started paid employment too”
