Sodexo Health & Care hits the 330,000 meals donation this year

Leading catering, facilities and property management services, Sodexo Health & Care have generously donated over 330,000 meals to help support our low income households in 2024.

Thanks to Sodexo’s Stop Hunger Foundation and its supply partners Brakes and Lineage Logistics, the frozen meals will provide nutritious, cooked meals to our members across the UK, over the challenging school summer holidays.

The meals include a range of different pies, roast chicken, macaroni cheese, with side dishes such as rice and cauliflower cheese, and apple crumble, date pudding and chocolate sponge desserts.

A member from the Broken Cross hub said: “I can’t wait to get home and try these out! My kids normally have free school meals, so having to find extra food… and hot food at that, really plays on my mum-guilt. I might pretend I made those puddings myself!”

Sodexo Health & Care CEO Phillip Leigh said: "Sodexo Health & Care has an ongoing commitment to supporting communities and tackling food insecurity.

"We understand the pressures many families face during the summer holidays when school meals are not available. By donating over 330,000 meals through the Stop Hunger Foundation, with the invaluable support of our partners, we hope to ease some of that concern during this time.

"We are proud to work alongside The Bread and Butter Thing and other longstanding partners to ensure that nutritious meals reach those who need them most."

Our CEO, Mark Game, CEO, The Bread and Butter Thing added: “We’ve been one of Sodexo’s Stop Hunger Foundation’s charity partners since February 2021 with the partnership going from strength to strength. Sodexo’s generosity knows no bounds and they are one of our most pro-active partners all year round donating not only food, but also financial support, volunteers and also mentoring for TBBT staff. With the cost of living crisis showing no signs of slowing down, this contributions have proved crucial for so many of our members and we can’t thank them enough.”

In the UK & Ireland, the Foundation works with national and local charity partners to donate time, skills and money to tackle food insecurity and its root causes and help empower women – who represent the biggest opportunity in eliminating hunger.
